An essential first step in ground water management is the gathering of baseline data. A carefully considered sampling and analysis plan can provide the information needed to manage all your water issues efficiently and cost effectively. Typically a Groundwater Investigation will include:

well field design and supervision of construction;
baseline sampling and analysis determination of groundwater flow direction and rates;
Stream and catchment flow;
Identification of potential effects on public health and the environment;;
and identification of contamination
Where a Groundwater Investigation is related to a Dewatering project, a groundwater investigation also includes the following:

Calculation of dewatering pump rates;
estimation of draw down effects; and
potential impacts on in-situ soils.

A vital part of the regulatory approval process in order to commence dewatering operations, an approved Management Plan is generally required. MDWES can assist you not only with dewatering management plans but also management strategies to move your project along and this includes:

Determination of suitable treatment and disposal options

Contingency planes for unexpected events
MDWES also has the capabilities to further develop into an Acid Sulfate Soil and Dewatering Management Plan (ASSDMP) where dewatering projects have a potential presence of Acid Sulfate Soils (ASS) on site that requires management.

Laboratory samples are collected and analysed by a NATA certified laboratory.

Water regulators typically require a NIMP to be undertaken before water allocation is issued, and is usually linked to monitoring performance.
